My old convertible top is watertight again. A previously used product from a reputable provider couldn't do it, "my top is too old." But that's exactly when you need impregnation. With Nanotol, the interior stays dry. Great!

Nanocoating for Garden Fabrics, Outdoor Carpets, Tents, Awnings, or Boat Covers

Protection against mildew stains, moisture, and discoloration.
Suitable for fabrics that absorb water:
  • Outdoor cushions
  • Parasols
  • Awnings
Nanotol forms an invisible protective layer that makes fabrics water and dirt repellent. Rain and other contaminants simply bead off the surface without penetrating the fabric. The textiles remain dry. Nanotol coats individual textile fibers and does not lie as a layer on top like a normal impregnation.

There is no better protection for fabrics and shoes, and it's even natural and solvent-free!
Absolutely no smell 👍 super, I will recommend it further.
Easiest Application and Really Good Protective Effect After First (Unintentional) Test Does what it should - very good.
And it actually doesn't stink!

The 4 Most Important Advantages of Our Nanocoating for Garden Fabrics

Protection Against Mildew Stains

The nanoparticles alter the textile so that water can no longer penetrate. The fabric remains dry even in damp weather, reducing mold growth.

Water repellent

Protection against soaking. The nanoparticles alter the surface so that water can no longer penetrate the textile fiber or leather. Spherical droplets form on the surface and run off.

Invisible

No optical change to the surface Intelligent fiber protection, ultra-thin, solvent-free, and therefore completely odorless. Nanotol Fabrics Protector is OEKO-TEX® certified, skin-friendly, and food-safe.

Breathable

No layer formation on the surface Unlike conventional impregnations, Nanotol does not lie as a layer on top but penetrates the textile or leather. Spaces remain open, allowing air to continue circulating.

Do textiles become waterproof with Nanotol?

An impregnation makes an awning or tent water-repellent. This is different from waterproof. Impregnation is meant to prevent the fabric from soaking up water. When water penetrates the fabric, it becomes heavy, takes longer to dry, and often results in mildew stains.

To seal against water, you need an impermeable coating. However, this is no longer breathable.

Can an impregnation be refreshed?

Most textiles or fabric items used outdoors in wind and weather have a water-repellent impregnation when new. But this impregnation does not last forever; it wears out due to weather, sun, rain, abrasion, or simply over time and loses its effectiveness. Wear can be observed or tested by running water over it. As long as everything beads off easily, the impregnation is intact. If the outer fabric soaks up water, the impregnation should be refreshed.

For which textiles is Nanotol Fabrics Protector suitable?

Nanotol is a product for all water-absorbing materials, such as cotton, bamboo, linen, viscose, etc.

Less suitable are synthetic fibers, such as polyester, nylon, acrylic, or polypropylene.
  • Garden fabrics, such as cushions, seat pads, pallet cushions, garden sofas, etc., that have water-absorbing upholstery fabric.
  • Outdoor carpets that do not yet have a weatherproof coating
  • Lounge furniture
  • Seat cushions
Nanotol coated upholstery fabrics remain like new for longer because water and dirt are repelled and discoloration is prevented.

How is Nanotol Fabrics Protector applied?

The coating with Nanotol Fabrics Protector is quick and easy.
  • No solvents, no odor
  • Spray onto the clean surface
  • Let dry for 24 hours

Is Nanotol suitable for me?

Do the Drop Test

If you want to find out before purchasing whether Nanotol Protector for Fabrics is suitable for your application, do the Drop Test:

Drop water onto the fabric or leather you want to coat

Wait to see if the water is absorbed by the fabric

If the water does not penetrate on its own, you can help with a little pressure (sponge, cloth, brush)

Nanotol is suitable

if the fabric has absorbed the water. Then Nanotol Fabrics Protector can also penetrate and adhere.

Nanotol is not suitable

if the water could not penetrate. Then there may already be a coating on the fabric or the fiber composition contains too much plastic (polyester, polyamide, polyacrylic, elastane, Lycra, etc.), which cannot absorb water. In this case, Nanotol cannot penetrate and would not work.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Nanocoating for Garden Fabrics

Unlike conventional impregnations that lie as a layer on the fabric, Nanotol nanocoating surrounds individual fibers. The aqueous liquid is sprayed on and penetrates the fiber. After drying, the nanoparticles remain and coat each individual fiber of the yarn.

  • Dirt beads off together with water. Residual dirt can be easily removed (shoes).
  • Coloring liquids, such as red wine, are not absorbed by the fiber and can be removed without residue (tablecloth, couch, carpet).
  • Fibers cannot get wet. Mildew stains are prevented (awning, sunshade, boat cover, garden cushions).
  • BUT: If you want to stay dry in continuous rain, you need waterproof shoes. This can only be achieved through a layer-forming impregnation. If you just want to be protected in case you accidentally step into a puddle, water-repellent is better, as it also has a dirt-repellent effect. However, you should not stand in the puddle.

No. Nanotol Protector for Fabrics is tested and certified:

  • Tested according to § 30 and 31 LFGB* and the European Regulation (EC) No.: 1935/2004 *Food, Consumer Goods and Feed Code. The test report confirms that Nanotol contains no harmful substances and that surfaces coated with Nanotol do not release substances, making them safe for direct contact with food.
  • Tested and certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® Hohenstein Textile Testing Institute (Germany) www.oeko-tex.com/standard100 (12.0.13919).

  1. Because our coating prevents dirt from penetrating the fiber through liquids. This protects against soaking and stains, and the textile receives an invisible easy-to-clean coating. If you step into a puddle, the shoe remains dry. Dirt or mud is simply washed off. Rain drops bead off an awning, and even red wine on a tablecloth can be easily removed with a kitchen towel.

Nanotol Protector for Fabrics is only affected by abrasion. In areas without abrasion, the effect will last for many years. In frequently used areas (your favorite spot on the outdoor couch), the coating effect will eventually diminish. You can recoat these areas partially without seeing a transition. If you notice wear, simply spray Nanotol Protector for Fabrics on these areas again. The nanocoating only penetrates areas that are already water-absorbent again. After that, the protection is complete again.

Nanotol is also wash-resistant. Please use a mild detergent for cleaning.

The coverage of Nanotol Protector for Fabrics ranges from 10-20 m² per liter.

This is because different materials can absorb different amounts of water. Some absorb more, some less of the coating. The fabric should always be saturated.

We recommend about 1 liter for a couch. If you have any Nanotol left over, you can use the rest to coat your shoes or garden cushions.

Nanotol Protector for Fabrics takes 24 hours to fully polymerize.

Nanotol is wash-resistant. Please use a mild detergent for cleaning. Due to the nanopolymer coating, dirt or stains can be very easily removed, as they have not penetrated the textile fiber but only lie on top.
